Terms of Service
By commissioning me you are automatically agreeing to these terms. It is the client's responsibility to read and understand these terms. Failure to follow any rules listed here may result in blacklisting (you won't be able to commission me in the future), blocking, and other more serious legal consequences in extreme cases. (By extreme cases I mostly refer to chargebacks or other illegal behavior!)
IMPORTANT: Upon commissioning me, PLEASE have all your funds ready, know what you want, fill out the appropriate forms, and reply and send funds in a timely manner. If you have questions, you may ask, but still be sure to have everything ready and fill out the forms.
Additionally, I do not do holds. Normally my commissions are open for long periods of time so when you have the funds, come back and place your order.

If you've read all these rules put the word "waffle" in your form!

General
- I take payments via PayPal invoice. Please provide your Paypal email and I'll send you an invoice.
- I can draw: pretty much any animal, anthro (bipedal) or feral (quadruped) (canines, felines, birds, reptiles, uncommon species, closed species, if you're not sure just ask!)
- I will not draw: MLP style (I can draw MLP characters, it will be stylized in my style), robots, humans, or excessively complex designs
- Additional characters: It will be an additional normal price for each added character. If you want two characters in a drawing, it'll be double the normal price. For example, fullbody drawings are normally $70, if you want a fullbody of two characters on the same canvas, it'll be $140. If you want 3 characters in the same piece, it'll be $210, and so on.
- Reference sheets: Reference sheets are preferred to work off of for commissions, but any existing art of your character works as reference, and I'm also willing to work off of description if your character has no references!
- I can do some NSFW, please consult this list for a list of themes I'm comfortable drawing, and those I'm not. You must be over 18 to order a NSFW commission. I post NSFW to Furaffinity and my AD Twitter (@CarnalK9) only. Examples are posted there, please only view them if you are over 18! All other sites are exclusively SFW.
- I typically will provide WIPs (work-in-progress sketches) at the sketch stage, but let me know if you'd like to see additional WIPs at other stages of the piece! If your commission is a YCH or tiny pixel, I typically will not provide a WIP for your commission.
- Turnaround time depends on my current queue, and typically I can get booked up to 1-3 weeks, but turnaround can be as quick as 1-3 days with a shorter queue. My queue can always be viewed on my public Trello page here. Typically there are estimated dates listed to give you an idea of time frames, but those are subject to change at any time.
- Shipping for physical items: For badges created digitally and custom buttons, I'll ship these without tracking and shipping will be no additional cost, unless you request tracking, which tends to be around $10-12, but it depends on the destination (I'm located in VA, United States). For traditional badges and pieces, I will send these with tracking, and the client is responsible for shipping fees. It also tends to be around $10-12 but depends on the size of the piece and destination. I can ship internationally! For small items like badges, I can send for no additional fee, but if you require tracking, it will be an additional fee, it will just depend on shipping costs based on destination. I will take your piece in to the post office to determine fees, and you will be responsible for covering the shipping fees afterward!
- Commission prices are subject to change at any time. I'm still working out the best prices based on quality and demand.
- You may request ANY edits at ANY stage of the art piece. I'm completely okay with redlining or pointing out anything that seems off, or a missed marking or accessory, etc. Don't be shy to ask for edits if I missed something or something is drawn incorrectly! For example: "You missed the white tips on the ears;" "Can you draw the ears a bit bigger?;" "Can you add eyelashes?" etc. I'm very open to feedback and you should not be afraid to let me know if something isn't up to your liking! I aim to create the best piece possible for you. I will make most edits for free! Don't worry about bothering me if you're asking for a lot of edits, I will gladly edit the piece as much as necessary til it's perfect! If a lot of large edits have been made, I may charge additional fees, however.
- Complex characters may cost extra, usually a $20+ fee. This fee may be increased depending on complexity.
- I have the right to reject any commission order for any reason. This usually doesn't happen, but if it did happen it would likely be because the character is too complex for me to draw or animate, it's one of the things listed above, or my commissions are currently closed.
- You may ask about the status of your commission, but please do not pester me about it. Refer to my To Do List to see where you are in my queue and if I'm currently working on your commission. My turnaround time is usually quick, but sometimes things can come up. However if you are not on my To Do list or you think you've been missed somehow please do let me know!
- Do not use any of my work if it was not specifically made for you.
- Merchandise: You may use work you've commissioned from me to create merchandise, such as stickers or pins. I retain rights to 50% of merchandising profits. You may of course create merchandise of commissioned work for personal use or to give out for free, without requiring permission. If you plan on selling merch of my work, you will be splitting the profits with me 50%! You may ONLY create and sell merchandise of work YOU have personally commissioned from me!
- Moving up in the queue/rush fees: You may move up in the queue for a fee of $10 per spots you want to move up. (view my queue here) This maxes out at $50. A $50 rush fee will get you priority and move you to the top of the queue. Please discuss any deadlines with me ahead of time, such as if a piece is for a gift, holiday, etc, and I can try and finish the piece by the deadline. If my queue is long, the rush fees above will apply!
- If you upload commissions you received from me on any other website, please give me appropriate credit. (Here are my social medias if you want to tag me elsewhere; FA: Yellow-K9; Twitter/X: yell0w_k9; Instagram: yellow_k9; Bluesky: yellowk9.bsky.social)
- I reserve the right to use any commissioned work for promotional purposes, as well as for posting to social media sites. If you do not want your work displayed for any reason, or your piece is a gift or otherwise needs to be private, please let me know.
- I sometimes livestream working on commissions, mainly animation commissions. If you do not wish to for your commissioned to be publicly livestreamed, let me know. I also sometimes create speedpaints of commissions, these are also typically for animation commissions. If you do not want your commission to be made into a speedpaint, let me know; on the other hand, let me know if you'd like to specifically request for me to make a speedpaint of your piece (free of charge) because I don't always make them for every piece!
- If you're uploading to Toyhouse, you may credit my account on there, Yellow-K9.
- You do not have permission to sell my artwork as "NFT" cryptocurrency.
- Abandonment clause: If you become unresponsive to my messages, your account becomes deactivated, etc, I will make every attempt to reach out to you that I can, including via your email if necessary. I require approval of WIPs before moving forward with your commission. If you do not approve the WIP, I cannot continue. If you fail to communicate with me or your account becomes deactivated, a refund will not be given. It is your responsibility to follow up with me appropriately to follow through with the commission process. If you are unsatisfied with the piece or WIP, or if something has come up and you require a refund, I will give a refund based on my policy listed below, just please communicate this with me. After 1 month of no communication, I will treat your commission as abandoned. If something happens to your account and you need to reach out to me, you may do so via email if necessary: [email protected]
- I take all payments upfront, before the commission is done. I will not start your commission unless you've paid. I will prioritize others who have paid even if they ordered later than you.
- I will not accept payment plans and I do not do holds. Normally my commissions are open for long periods of time so when you have the funds, come back and place your order. If your payday is coming up, please communicate this upfront. I can invoice you immediately and you must pay within a week. You will remain at the bottom of my queue until it is fully paid off.
- I take USD payments through PayPal. I accept payment via invoices, please provide your PayPal email so I may send one.
- REFUNDS: You are welcome to request a refund at any time for any reason. If the piece has not been started, you may receive a full refund. If the piece has been started, you may receive a 50% refund. If the piece is fully completed, you will be unable to request a refund.
- I WILL REMOVE YOUR COMMISSION FROM MY LIST IF UNPAID FOR 5 DAYS. More specifically, if you are not responsive for 5 days after I reply to your commission order, I will remove your commission from my list. I tend to be lenient with this and I understand if things come up, but I do not have time to wait around for people to pay. If your payday is coming up soon, typically that's fine and arrangements can be made ahead of time, just please communicate this upfront!
- If your commission has been completed, you may not file a chargeback.
- After I complete your commission, I mark orders as completed. You will receive an email about "shipment info;" don't freak out, there's nothing else you owe or need to do. For digital goods, nothing will be shipped.
- Tips are not necessary, but always welcome! You may add on a tip to your initial invoice, or you may send me a Ko-Fi!
Design TOS
By purchasing an adoptable or custom design by me, you're automatically agreeing to these terms. Here's what I allow in reference to designs:
- For commissioning a design: Included in the custom design price, you are allowed to ask for as many adjustments to the design as necessary (within reason). If significant design changes are made from the first rendition, you will not have rights to the designs prior to the final one.
- You may make any adjustments to any design once bought. I'm totally fine with changing the species, changing from feral to anthro and vice versa, any hue/color changes, draw NSFW of them, include them in stories, comics, even merchandise is fine!
- Please credit me somewhere as the designer. I'm Yellow-K9 on Toyhou.se for crediting purposes!
- You may resell, trade, or gift your design. You may resell the design for any price you'd like. You're free to return the design to me and I may put it back up for sale.
If you've read all these rules put the word "waffle" in your form!
Dos and Don'ts When Commissioning
TLDR; Don't ghost me. Communicate ASAP if anything comes up. Please pay your invoice right away. Keep details concise and altogether in one message when possible. Keep conversation professional and do not make small talk with me. Check my public queue for the status on your commission.
DO: COMMUNICATE IN A TIMELY MANNER
Communicate back in a timely manner and communicate if things come up. If you can no longer purchase a commission, please let me know ASAP instead of leaving me hanging. |
DON’T: GHOST
Do not ghost me. It’s very rude and unprofessional and wastes everyone’s time. I get that things come up, but please communicate with me. If you’re no longer interested in a commission, that is completely fine, but don’t ignore messages or leave me hanging. |
DO: PAY ASAP IN A TIMELY MANNER
Pay your invoice right away as soon as you can! |
DON’T: WAIT TO PAY YOUR INVOICE
Don’t delay in sending payment. I take upfront payment and will not start on your commission till it is paid. I understand if things come up but please communicate if you need to pay on a certain day. |
DO: JUST SAY IT’S OUT OF YOUR BUDGET
There’s a professional way to communicate if prices are high without coming off as rude. Just say “sorry, that’s out of my budget” or something to that degree, as opposed to saying “that’s too expensive.” It’s very rude and makes artists feel like their work is being devalued. |
DON’T: COMPLAIN ABOUT PRICES
It’s extremely rude and unprofessional to complain about prices. My prices may seem high, this is because of the time I spend on creating pieces, as well as demand for my work. I’d be overwhelmed with orders if my prices were lower. Remember that art is a luxury and artists are free to price whatever they like. Please keep opinions about pricing to yourself. |
DO: COMMUNICATE PROFESSIONALLY
Keep things clear and to the point, and keep all conversation related to the business interaction. Respond in a timely manner. |
DON’T: MAKE SMALL TALK
Do not just say “hi” in a message to start out. This tells the artist nothing. It’s unclear whether you want to have a conversation, or want to commission me, or what. Please just state your matter of business upfront. Additionally, if you are commissioning art from me, please do NOT make small talk with me. Asking about how I am, having a conversation outside of the business interaction, etc, is unprofessional unless we’re already friends. |
DO: SEND ALL INFO IN ONE MESSAGE
Put all of the info into one message so it’s all in one place. |
DON’T: SPREAD OUT INFO
It’s fine if you need to send a lot of info about your commission, or ask questions first, but please don’t send a bunch of small messages with this info. This is why I utilize a form structure! Just want to make sure everything is in one place and easy to access. |
DO: CHECK MY PUBLIC QUEUE
I update my Trello daily so please check back there to see about the status of your commission. |
DON’T: PESTER ABOUT STATUS
Don’t pester me about the status of your commission. It’s completely fine if you ask for a timeframe upfront, but don’t continuously ask about how it’s going. That’s why I have a public queue. |
DO: ASK FOR EDITS ASAP
Ask for edits when as soon as see something you want changed! |
DON’T: WAIT TO ASK FOR EDITS
Make sure you communicate at the earliest stage such as a WIP sketch to ask for edits. Some things may be harder to change later on. Make sure to state everything you want changed upfront so there’s less back and forth. Although it’s fine if you don’t notice something till later on. I’m typically very flexible with edits and I’m fine with asking for several edits! Just make sure you communicate everything possible upfront. |
DO: ASK QUESTIONS AND ASK FOR QUOTES
Overall, it’s fine to ask questions and inquire about quotes! Just remember to communicate professionally and in a timely manner.
I don't mean all this list to sound rude or intimidating at all! Just some basic notes about what to do and not to do when commissioning me.
